–

THE national secretariat of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, IPMAN, is not aware of any planned strike action as reported in some quarters.

A statement signed by Danladi Pasali, national secretary of IPMAN, said: “The threat is baseless and is the handiwork of some faceless people who are unhappy with the progress witnessed in the downstream oil sector recently.”

Pasali said at no time did the national secretariat or its regional/ zonal officials issued any ultimatum for strike action to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC. Instead, he said the association commended the effort made so far by the corporation in the distribution process of the fuel.

The national secretary also refuted the existence of one Dr Emmanuel Ihedigbo who claimed to be the chairman of the council of elders of IPMAN, who allegedly issued the ultimatum. He said such name didn’t exist in the register of the association.

Besides, he said there was no such position in the IPMAN, and therefore, urged government officials, especially the NNPC to ignore such threats and regard it as distraction.
