The Indigenous People of Biafra condemns police brutality on its members just as it absolves them from burning the station at Ajali, Anambra State

The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has described as unfortunate the linkage of the secessionist group with a strange fire that gutted the Ajalli Police Station, in Orumba North of Anambra State.

While condemning the torturing of its detained members by the police, in a statement, IPOB maintained that its members have no hands in the fire incident that destroyed so many vehicles within the police station, stressing that IPOB is a peaceful and determined movement fighting for Biafra independence.

According to the statement, IPOB is a rooted movement and must continue on its stance of non-violent approach.  It said anybody linking a “peaceful movement like IPOB with the recent fire incident in Orumba North is evil and cannot be forgiven by heaven and earth.”

IPOB is baffled that police authorities who claimed to be professionals allow their officers to beat up IPOB detainees in their custody, insisting that the world must take notice of this recent action by Nigerian Police and other security agencies against IPOB members.

“Right now policemen are busy beating up detainees and those IPOB members who were shouting, no election and sit-at-home in Biafraland on Saturday, 16th February 2019,” the group said.

“The continued and barbaric acts meted on every IPOB member in Biafraland especially those released from Army and police cells is becoming unbearable.

“We made it clear to all and sundry that we are not interested in any Nigeria election across Biafraland unless our demands and requests are met.

“Therefore, our people are hereby advised once again to stay indoors or be killed by Nigerian Army, police and DSS because they have perfected their strategy to eliminate anybody seen on road on Saturday.

“We are also calling on the general public to be mindful of Saturday and sit-at-home for their future and that of their children unborn. Saturday’s presidential election is a day Biafrans will decide their future in Nigeria.

“Nigerian government headed by Fulani people and her security apparatus have positioned all their Fulani military men, hardware and equipment in all states of Biafraland to kill Biafrans or anybody suspected to be IPOB member.”
