IRAN’s Khuzestan Bidboland Gas Refinery, considered to be the biggest in the Middle East and West Asia, is ready for operation, according to the Managing Director of Bidboland Gas Refinery Company Mahmoud Aminnejad.
Aminnejad said this on Tuesday as reported by official IRNA news agency.
“Despite U.S. sanctions, the Bidboland gas refinery has been built by the experts of Iran and is ready for operation,” he said.
The refinery will be inaugurated on Thursday in the presence of the country’s officials, he was quoted as saying.
“More than 3.4 billion U.S. dollars have been invested in the construction of the large refinery.
“It is able to collect all the gases associated with oil extraction in Iran and turn them into useful gas,” he explained.
The managing director put the plant’s capacity of gas production, including the gases of methane, ethane, butane, and propane, at 2 billion cubic feet per day.
“For the construction of the plant, more than 1,000 km of feed and transmission pipelines have been built, and it is currently the third top project of its kind in the world,” he noted.
After the inauguration of the project, more than 1,100 people will be employed at the refinery, Aminnejad added. – Xinhua/NAN
