Iran’s IRGC confirms death of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh

IRAN’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on Wednesday confirmed the death of Ismail Haniyeh, leader of Palestinian militant organisation Hamas.
A brief statement from the Iranian force said that Haniyeh was killed in an attack at his residence in Tehran.
The statement added that his bodyguard also died a “martyr’s death,” adding that further information would be released later.
Hamas had previously announced Haniyeh’s death in a statement posted on Telegram and blamed Israel for it.
There is no confirmation yet from the Israeli government. (dpa/NAN)
