A group, Taraba Network for Peace and Development on Wednesday asked the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Mr Adams Oshiomhole, to retract his verbal attack on Governor Darius Ishaku or face court action.
At a press briefing in Jalingo, Chairman of the group, Alhaji Haruna Musa, who was flanked by the Secretary, Yusuf Illiya, said Governor Darius Ishaku was duly elected by the generality of the Taraba people and affirmed by the Supreme Court and wondered why Oshiomhole kept saying his election in 2015 was not by popular votes.
Oshiomhole had on Monday, while inaugurating Tukur El-Sudi as the APC chairman in Taraba, accused Governor Darius Ishaku of running a non-resident administration and promised to give the people of Taraba in 2019 a resident governor.
The group called on the APC national chairman to retract what they described as ‘reckless statements’ against Governor Darius Ishaku within seven days or risk lawsuit.
“We can no longer sit back and watch Oshiomhole make wild and false allegations and cast aspersions on the integrity of the nation’s judicial verdicts which upheld the election of Governor Darius Ishaku.
“Oshiomhole benefited from judicial verdict when the Supreme Court installed him as the Governor of Edo State and for him to turn today and make unsubstantiated claims against Gov Ishaku and the court is uncalled for.
“We reject falsehood as weapon of political opposition and advise Oshiomhole to retract his statements and apologise to Governor Darius Ishaku and the people of Taraba State for this act of political blackmail.” – Punch
