ISRAEL on Tuesday announced a national plan to promote innovation and technology in sports, including artificial intelligence (AI) and big data, the country’s sports and innovation ministries said in a joint statement.

The plan included supporting scientific and medical research, with the help of big data, to improve athlete performance, prevent injuries, and advance rehabilitation.

As part of the plan, entrepreneurs and technology companies could offer solutions to sports challenges.

The plan would also integrate climate innovation in sports, such as lighter and greener construction of sports facilities, use of solar energy, shading, air conditioning and switching to evening activities.

In addition, the plan would implement AI in sports, such as operating sports facilities using AI tools.

It also aimed to establish innovation centres in elite sports centres throughout the country and implement innovative methods and tools in the training of new coaches, the statement concluded. (Xinhua/NAN)
