TUNJI Disu $10,000 the new head of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) would be getting a whopping $10,000 equivalent of N5million from Aloy Chife, an information technology, IT, expert, as a reward for getting his new job.
Disu, was appointed to head the elite team of the Nigerian Police Force (NPF), by Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, last week, to replace his predecessor, Abba Kyari, who was booted out of the office and suspended from the police for allegedly receiving bribe from an internet fraud kingpin, Ramon Abbas, alias Hushpuppi.
He has since been suspended by the Police Service Commission (PSC), on the recommendation of the IG, while a four-man probe panel has been raised to investigate the allegations against him, after a US district court, ordered his arrest following an indictment by the country’s Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI).
Kyari, had initially denied receiving money from Hushpuppi, who reportedly, gave details to the FBI, on how the acclaimed Nigerian Super Cop got N8million from the proceed of over a $1.1million scam of Qatari businessman.
TheCable, reports that an excited Chife, took to his Twitter handle to extol and congratulate Disu, who he described as a ray of hope, while offering him the monetary gift, “on behalf of Nigerians and their hopes for a professional police”.
Chife had also said in an earlier tweet in January that Disu is his most preferred person to serve as the IGP, saying: “News: IGPappoints Tunji Disu Head, Police Intelligence Response Team. Disu rising. A ray of hope for Nigeria. “Congrats! @TunjiDisu1
“I’ll be giving you $10k in the name of long-suffering young Nigerians as a slight token of their affection and hopes for professional police. There is no future for Nigeria unless it boasts a professional police service. Nations are built by a few good men in their chosen fields. And you, Mr Disu @TunjiDisu1 have an appointment with destiny. And we’re all desperate for your success.” – (text excluding headline from The Cable/Whirlwindnews)
