ITF D-G urges youths to embrace craftsmanship spirit, strive for excellence
GENERAL
THE Director General, Industrial Training Fund (ITF), Dr Afiz Ogun, has urged youths to embrace a craftsmanship spirit, strive for excellence in their chosen fields, and contribute to the betterment of themselves and society.
Ogun stated this at the ITF Staff School Speech and Prize/Graduation Ceremony on Saturday in Jos.
The D-G, who was represented by the Director of Corporate Planning, Mrs Suleiyol Chagu, said that in a rapidly changing global economy, craftsmanship is what sets individuals and nations apart.
He described it as the key to innovation, entrepreneurship, and sustainable growth.
“I urge you to embrace the spirit of craftsmanship, to strive for excellence in your chosen fields, and to contribute to the betterment of our society.
“The theme for this year’s celebration is titled “Craftsmanship: An Enabler for Economic Survival,” which resonates deeply in today’s world.
“As you venture into the next phase of your journey, remember that craftsmanship is not only about technical skills alone but also about dedication, hard work, and attention to details.
“As you go forth, remember that: craftsmanship is a mindset, a way of approaching challenges with passion and perseverance; craftsmanship is a skill, honed through practice, patience, and dedication.
“It is also a value that sets you apart and makes you valuable to others,” he advised.
The D-G, who congratulated the graduates on their academic feats, promised to make ITF Staff School the best in Plateau and beyond.
According to him, he has started with a supply of interactive boards for the school and provided other facilities and equipment needed for 21st century learning.
The Board Chairman of ITF Staff School, Mallam Mohammed Jamil, recalled some achievements of the school, including the provision of 30 e-learning boards in the school.
Jamil, who is ITF Director of Administration and Human Resources, said that they have given scholarships to the best-performing students in the school.
Mr Richard Baba appreciated the parents for their support in helping create character in the children.
Baba stated that education is not a destination but a lifelong journey, and he urged the graduates not to relent. (NAN)
