I’ve attracted projects worth N1.55bn to my constituency – Rep. Amos

REP. Dan Amos, (PDP) representing Jema’a/Sanga federal constituency of Kaduna State says he has attracted projects worth more than N1.55 billion to his constituency.

Amos, who disclosed this during a meeting with Jema’a/Sanga Community Development Charter (CDC) champions on Tuesday in Kafanchan, said the projects were captured in the approved 2024 budget.

The lawmaker listed some of the projects to include; construction/installation of all-in-one solar street lights, hand pumps in 100 communities, construction of the bridge linking Kogom and Hayin Gada and electrification of Jagindi to Kogom areas.

Others are; road improvement work with drainage in Bara community in Kagoma of Gwong chiefdom amongst others.

Amos, who is the Chairman, House Services Committee, said that plans were underway to impact positively on more than 100 communities in his constituency during his tenure in office.

“As a first timer, I know that I am starting very strong with the inclusion of more than N1.55 billion projects in this year’s budget, looking at the records, I have already beat the record of four years of my predecessor put together,’’ he said.

Amos said at least, 100 communities would get boreholes and solar street light during this year.

He urged his constituents to have trust in the ability of President Bola Tinubu-led administration to bring transformational leadership to the country.

The lawmaker said the projects included in the budget were in fulfillment of his campaign promises.

He pledged to collaborate with the CDC champions in identifying more priority needs of his constituents ahead of future budgetary provisions.

Earlier, Mr Godwin Kumai, the Coordinator, Jema’a CDC, said the group’s visit sought to renew their commitment in partnering with Amos to ensure projects attracted have direct bearing to the needs of the people of the constituency.

“We have come to seek and consolidate ways of collaborating with you in delivering projects that have direct bearing to the needs of our people.

“Your focus in the areas of health, education and agriculture amongst others are in line with our agenda for the people,” he said.

Kumai explained that CDC, a civil society organisation “is vast in participatory budgeting process and social accountability tool and assists communities to identify priority developmental projects for execution by government and corporate organisations.”

According to him, citizens’ engagement and participation in governance processes is critical for good governance and sustainable development in any society.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the group presented a document containing lists of priority projects for Jema’a/Sanga federal constituency as a guide to the lawmaker during his tenure. (NAN)
