THE Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Basic Education Services, Prof. Julius Ihonvbere, says he has constructed and rehabilitated no fewer than 45 schools in his constituency.

Ihonvbere (APC-Edo) who represents Owan Federal Constituency disclosed this on Sunday in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja.

He said since it was education that took him to his current position; hence his campaign promise was to prioritise education.

” I think I have fulfilled that promise, because in three years I have constructed, rehabilitated and furnished more than 45 schools.

“This is unprecedented in my constituency and every ward benefitted. Some wards even got two to three schools,” he said.

The lawmaker also said that he had been able to provide water, street lights, as well as training for his constituents.

He, however, lamented the state of roads in the constituency, saying there was nothing to write home about concerning the state of the roads.

“We feel very bad about the state of roads in my constituency. The roads have been abandoned over the years by both the federal and state governments.

“We have written letters to Ministry of Works, yet nothing was or has been done about them,” he said.

On the forthcoming 2023 general elections, Ihonvbere advised the electorate not to be swayed by money, or threat of violence.

“Let’s follow the rules, vote for the person who can deliver. Look at the track records of the individual,” he advised.

The lawmaker also reviewed the performance of the 9th Assembly, with a conclusion that it is one of the best Nigerians ever had since 1999.

According to him, the legislative agenda of the 9th Assembly is 100 per cent pro-people. (NAN)
