ALEX Iwobi, a Super Eagles invitee, has said his target after signing a new contract with Arsenal is to break into the first team of the London club.

Iwobi, who was invited by Sunday Oliseh, Nigerian coach, for the Eagles’ two friendly matches against DR Congo and Cameroon in Belgium, on Tuesday, October 6, signed a new long-term contract with the club.

The 19-year-old was a regular feature for Arsenal U-21 and has impressed for the side but he believes he worked hard for the new contract.

“I’m delighted to have signed a new contract, especially with a club like Arsenal who are so big, I’m happy to sign for them,” Iwobi told arsenal.com.

“I like to think I have earned it. I have gone through a lot with Arsenal so to have a new and improved contract is very good and I’m happy to have earned it.

“The ultimate goal is to break into the first team and play as many games as I can.”
