The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), on Saturday, held a five kilometers Health Walk in preparation for its 2025 activities, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.

NAN reports that the JAMB members of staff, began the walk at 7 a.m. from the board’s headquarter in Bwari, through the Nigerian Law School road.

The walk also pan through Kuduru road, Bwari Area Council Secretariat road and back to its headquarters office.

Mr Gani Abdulrahman, Director, Human Resources, JAMB, speaking with NAN on the sidelines of the activity, said that the walk was organised to prepare the general health status of staff for the year’s activities.

According to him, it is to motivate staff, because our work is usually rigorous when we commence the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). It is like fighting a war.

“So we need to be physically, mentally and emotionally alert throughout the period, and that is why we decided to begin with keeping fit first.

“We also intend to continue having such exercises periodically; we have a sports club that we intend to reactivate to make it modern and encourage staff to use the opportunity to exercise,” he said.

Abdulrahman added that the routine, would also allow for staff to watch their weight and help them develop a strong body system to fight against sicknesses.

Meanwhile, a staff who also spoke with NAN, Mrs Halima Aliyu, said that the activity had not only allowed them to socialise, but had given those with difficulty exercising on their own the opportunity to do so.

She noted that keeping fit was necessary at all times, especially for workers who get carried away with work and do not pay attention to their body signals.

Aliyu, while appreciating the organisers of the activity, said that such initiative would not only boost the health status of members of staff, but would allow for time to relax.

JAMB had on Thursday, via its X handle, announced that the details of the 2025 UTME registration process would be announced soonest.(NAN)
