TOKYO intends to continue to adhere to the policy of resolving the territorial issue with Russia and signing a peace treaty, Japanese Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa said on Friday.

“The Japanese government intends to continue to adhere to the policy of resolving the territorial issue and signing a peace treaty (with Russia),” Kamikawa said.

The authorities are receiving requests from former residents of the Kuril Islands to resume visits to the graves of their ancestors, the minister added.

“There are urgent needs of former residents, and we are determined to respond to this accordingly.

“So in the case of Russia, we are focusing on resuming such trips to the graves,” the minister said. (Sputnik/NAN)
