Jordan summons Israeli envoy to protest violations in Jerusalem

JORDAN’S Foreign Ministry on Monday summoned Israeli charge d’affairs in Amman to protest, condemn Israeli violations against worshipers at the al-Aqsa Mosque, latest attacks on people in East Jerusalem’s Sheikh Jarrah.

The ministry’s secretary general, Youssef al-Batayneh, said recent Israeli practices against people at the al-Aqsa Mosque are “a violation of international law.

Al-Batayneh said the attack violates historical and legal status quo, and they must be stopped immediately, according to a ministry statement.

Videos posted online showed police using flash grenades, tear gas, rubber bullets and Palestinians throwing stones outside the al-Aqsa Mosque, known to Jews at the Temple Mount and Muslims as the Noble Sanctuary.
