Court remands driver for stealing gold necklace worth N450,000

AN Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on Monday ordered that a 36-year-old commercial driver, Sunday Ogunfe, who pleaded guilty to stealing a gold necklace worth N450,000, from a saleman, be remanded in correction facility, pending sentencing.

Magistrate O.O. Fajana ordered that Ogunfe should be remanded in Kirikiri Correction Facility in Lagos, pending the review of the facts of the case and sentencing.

Fajana adjourned the case until Oct. 16 for the review and sentencing.

Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Insp. Patrick Ebri, told the court that Ogunfe stole the necklace from Mr Sunday Vincent on Dec. 8, at Iyana-Ipaja Market, Alimosho, Lagos.

Ebri said that Ogunfe pulled the necklace from the complainant’s neck while promoting his products in the market.

The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. (NAN)
