Court remands man, 56, in Correctional Service over alleged rape

AN Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday remanded 56-year-old Sunday Ayoola in Kirikiri Correctional Service for allegedly raping his neighbour’s 17-year-old daughter.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr P.E. Nwaka, who did not take the plea of Ayoola ordered that the case file should be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for advice.
Nwaka adjourned the case until Dec. 23 for mention,
The defendant, who resides at Ketu area of Lagos, is facing a count charge of rape.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp. Christopher John, told the court that the defendant committed the offence in 2018 at Ifeoluwa Street, Alapere, Lagos .
John said that the defendant had sexually molested the girl for two years.
He said the girl later told her sister that the defendant had been forcefully having sexual intercourse with her since she was 15 years.
“The case was reported to the police and the defendant was arrested,” the prosecutor said.
John said the offence contravened Section 262 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
