Teenager in court over alleged break-in, malicious damage

A 17-year-old boy, Pinock Evans, who allegedly broke into a shop with the intent to steal was on Tuesday brought before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.

Evans, whose address was not provided, is facing a two-count charge of malicious damage and breaking and entry, to which he pleaded not guilty.

The Prosecutor, ASP. Akpan Ikem, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Feb. 16, at about 5:40 a.m. at No 1, Abule Era Road, Ijanikin area of Lagos.

Ikem said the defendant broke into the Ocean of Life Pharmacy with intent to steal.

“The defendant damaged three padlocks valued N3,000 property of  Mr Okwuegbulem Promise.

“Evans was arrested during the act and handed over to the police by the complainant,’’ he said.

Ikem said that the offences contravened Sections 308 and 337 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).

The Chief Magistrate, Patrick Adekomaya, remanded the defendant in correcting home at Adigbe in Abeokuta and adjourned the case until April 15. (NAN)
