JUMIA, Africa’s leading e-commerce platform, has urged Nigerians to leverage the 2022 edition of its Black Friday shopping campaign to tackle ‘sapa’ and navigate the current economic realities.
Mr Massimiliano Spalazzi, the Chief Executive Officer, Jumia Nigeria, gave the advice at a news conference on Wednesday in Lagos.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that ‘sapa’ is a term used to describe a state of poverty.
Spalazzi said the 2022 Black Friday event scheduled for Nov. 4 – 27 tagged ‘Beat Sapa’ was also geared toward supporting Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and other brands to reach millions of customers.
He said that consumers would get massive discounts on a wide range of products across different categories from top international and local brands in this year edition.
This, he said, was because Jumia after noticing the current inflationary trends, thought of the best way possible to provide its consumers with an enriched and value-filled shopping experience.
Spalazzi added that over 400,000 deals were available to cater to consumers needs from about 15, 000 vendors throughout the duration of the event.
He said that this year’s Jumia Black Friday was in partnership with Adidas, Nivea, Xiaomi, Oraimo and Guinness.
“The Jumia Black Friday campaign is another opportunity for us to enrich the shopping experience of our consumers.
“With the current economic situation, it is important to ensure that consumers can still shop for their needs at the best prices.
“This ninth edition is set to provide this, and we are happy to have partnered with the biggest household brands and SMEs.
“We are encouraging our consumers to take advantage of this campaign and “Beat Sapa” with Jumia,” he said.
Spalazzi added that asides from heavily discounted prices, consumers would get mega deals which include flash sales on select products and free shipping by brands, daily games, prime members dedicated offers, and JumiaPay discounts, amongst others.
He said that the event would feature treasure hunt, brand days, daily check-in, flash sales and Jumia games, where consumers could win exciting prizes and get further discounts on several products.
“Consumers can take advantage of the amazing offers during the Black Friday sale by simply downloading the Jumia App,” he said.
Mr Oladele Adeyole, the Country General Manager, Beiersdorf Nivea Consumer Nigeria Ltd., expressed delight and optimism about the partnership with Jumia and promised consumers the best deals on Nivea’s product assortment.
“We are aware of the tough economic conditions, which is why at Nivea, we believe in care beyond skin which means being part of the solution.
“We want to make self-love and self-care accessible and affordable for all,” he said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the annual commercial event, which was introduced into Nigeria for the first time in 2014 continues to gain popularity amongst consumers.
It has largely contributed to the adoption of e-commerce nationwide through massive awareness. (NAN)
