Kaduna council boss tasks youths on leadership capacity building

MRS. Nita George, Sole Administrator of Jaba Local Government Area of Kaduna State, has tasked youths to always prepare themselves for leadership roles by building their capacity ahead.

George made the call while speaking to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kwoi, headquarters of Jaba Local Government Area of the state on Wednesday. 

“Leadership atimes come spontaneous, hence the need for every youths to always prepare themselves ahead for such opportunity. 

“We need to invest in our capacity or avail opportunities for ourselves to embark on training, especially around human development.

“Young people need to prove to the world that they have the capacity to take on leadership positions,” she added. 

According to her, the innovativeness, energy and industrious nature of young people makes them well placed to transform the society.

The LG boss noted that though leadership at the grassroots was quite tasking, she said that she was doing her best to surmount the challenges.

George lauded Gov. Nasir El-Rufai for giving women and the youth a chance to prove their mettle in his government, adding that his leadership style had inspired her.

“Malam El-rufai’s leadership style has inspired me greatly, and trust me, I am putting all efforts right now to succeed because I don’t want to let him down.

“As young people, we have to live up to expectations so that we don’t close the door to future opportunities.

“Also, being a beneficiary of his gender friendly appointments, I am hoping this legacy will be sustained by succeeding administration,” she said. 

Speaking On her performance, the council boss said her priority was to complete the roads and other projects inherited from her predecessor, expressing ti belief in continuity in governance.

“We inherited quite a number of unfinished projects and since we came in, all we have been trying to do is to see how to complete them.

“We don’t want to waste the little funds we get on new projects simply because we want to take credit for it.

“I celebrate continuity in governance more. We have to join hands, as single  efforts cannot build a community,” she said.

The council boss said that her administration had equipped schools with more learning materials, while communities without functional transformers and boreholes have had them fixed.

She reiterated her resolve to continue to execute projects that have a direct bearing on the lives of people. (NAN)
