THE Kaduna State Government on Tuesday called on development partners working in the state to key into its development agenda for efficient use of resources.

The state Commissioner for Planning and Budget, Muhammad Abdullahi, made the call at the opening of a Coordination Meeting with development partners in Kaduna.

Abdullahi noted that resources are being wasted because of duplication of interventions, lack of alignment of programmes and projects for development.

According to him, partners should support the state in the direction it is going to make the best use of resources.

“What we want to achieve at this meeting is to discuss what we want to achieve in all sectors and how development partners can support us in achieving our targets.

“This will ensure that Kaduna State and its partners aligned all interventions and move in the same direction,” he said.

He explained that instead of doing the same thing in the health sector for example, interventions should be spread to other sectors for even development.

Also speaking, Ms. Mariama Darboe, Head of Office, United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), Kaduna Sub-office, noted that coordination of interventions and support would create the needed result in expected development outcomes.

Darboe, who spoke on behalf of all UN agencies working in Kaduna, commended the state government for opening its doors to partners to contribute in improving the living standard of the people.

She assured the state government that the UN family are in the state to support the government in different areas of interest to improve the quality of lives of citizens.

Similarly, Abel Adejor, Kaduna State Team Lead, Partnership to Engage, Reform and Learn – Engaging Citizens Pillar, (PERL-ECP), said that PERL was supporting the state to strengthen open government partnership.

“We are equally providing the state House of Assembly with technical support on budgeting process to improve citizen engagement in the process,” he said. (NAN)
