DR Ibrahim Kana, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Defence, has called for harmonious working relationship between doctors and nurses to enhance better services to patients.

This is contained in a statement in Abuja on Thursday, by Mrs Victoria Agba-Attah, Director of Press and Public Relations in the ministry.

Kana made the call when officials of FCT chapter of the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives (NANNM), paid him a courtesy visit.

He said that the partnership between doctors and nurses would bring about better health outcomes for Nigerians.

He explained that the ministry had repositioned its health services by establishing a single Armed Forces Medical Corps to address the healthcare needs of officers and soldiers, and the general public.

Kana said that the repositioning of the corps had
encouraged adequate training and retraining of health workers in the military.

Earlier, the Chairman of NANNM, Abuja chapter, Mrs Deborah Yusufu appreciated Kana for his support and timely intervention in the affairs of the ministry’s unit of the association.

She lauded him for ensuring the payment of two years uniform allowance of nurses in the ministry.

The chairman said that the association would honour him in a grand style during the nurses week scheduled to take place at a later date. (NAN)
