Kano State warns against delays in school feeding programme

KANO State Government has warned against delay in the provision of food to pupils in public schools in the state.

Haruna Ibn-Sina, Commander General, Kano State Hisbah Board, gave the warning in a statement on Wednesday in Kano.

The statement said the Commander monitored the feeding exercise at Dambazau; Dan Agundi, Gidan Makama and Jarkasa Primary Schools in Kano Municipal Council.

Ibn-Sina stressed the need to for feeding committee to prepare the food in hygienic conditions, adding that the Board had adopted proactive measures to ensure effective monitoring for smooth implementation of the programme.

He expressed satisfaction with the hygienic conditions of cooking areas in the visited schools and urged members of the feeding committee and cooks to display greater commitment to duty.

The Commander warned that the state government would not condoned delays and acts capable of derailing the programme.

NAN reports that the state government had initiated a free meal programme to encourage enrollment and retention in schools. (NAN)
