THE Sport Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Kano chapter, on Friday beat Kurmawa correctional center inmates 5-4 on penalties in a Sallah friendly football match at the prison premises.

Goals from SWAN’s Yusuf Giginyu and his Correctional center counterpart, Ali Sani, proved decisive for both sides as the encounter ended 1-1 in regulation time, after which SWAN won 5-4 on a penalty shoot out.

in a post-match interview, the head coach of SWAN, Nura Garba, appreciated his team for the victory.

“I want to express my deepest appreciation to Kano SWAN Executive Committee and all the players for their dedication and hard work that made this win possible.

“I must commend our opponents, the Kurmawa Correctional Service inmates, for their outstanding teamwork and determination.

“They played exceptionally well but were perhaps unlucky in converting their chances into goals,” he explained. (NAN)
