KADUNA state Peace Commission (KAPECOM) said on Wednesday that it would strengthen its mechanisms for the monitoring and prevention of  conflicts in the state.
Vice Chairman of the Commission, Priscilla Ankut, stated this in Kaduna at  the launching ceremony  of the Commission’s  Early Warning and Early Response System (CEWERS).
She said CEWERS was initiated out of the need to reinvigorate the chain of events, from when threats are detected, reported and also the response time.
“We also recognise the reality that response must not come in the form of military force only, to prevent conflict.
“It can be through dialogue, negotiation, mediation and inter-agency
cooperation to ease pain and douse tension,” she said.
Ankut stated that in this era of data and information sharing, the commission would empower the people to contribute their quota in ensuring a peaceful Kaduna State.
She also commended Development Partners for their assistance in making CEWERS a reality.
“They have given us all that we requested and even more; they funded the design and implementation of CEWERS, and equipped us with hardware to make this wonderful dream to come true”, she stressed,” she said.(NAN)/
