Katsina Govt. plans recruitment of 7,000 permanent teachers

KATSINA State Government says it plans to recruit about 7,000 permanent teachers across the 34 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state.
Malam Ibrahim Kaula, the Chief Press Secretary to Gov. Dikko Radda, disclosed this in a statement issued in Katsina on Saturday.
Kaula stated that the Deputy Governor of the state, Malam Faruk Lawal-Jobe, said this at the inauguration of the committee responsible for conducting the recruitment examination.
Lawal-Jobe said the state government planed to conduct recruitment examination for S-POWER teachers aimed at converting them to permanent teachers.
According to him, about 5,000 NCE/Diploma holders and 2,000 graduates under S-POWER are currently teaching in primary and secondary schools across the state.
Lawal-Jobe said that the initiative was part of the government’s commitment to enhancing the quality of education.
“It is also aimed at ensuring that qualified and competent educators are entrusted with shaping the future of Katsina students.”
He emphasised the importance of reviewing the recent recruitment process which aided employment of 3,889 teachers by the state Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).
“These individuals will also be required to undergo the same recruitment examinations to ensure that only competent and qualified candidates are absorbed into the teaching service,” he said.
The deputy governor said that the rigorous methods that will be employed throughout the recruitment processes to uphold fairness and integrity.
Earlier, the Secretary to the State Government, Mr Ahmad Dangiwa, urged the committee to discharge their duties with utmost fairness and impartiality.
The committee, chaired by Dr Sabi’u Ɗahiru, with Alhaji Lurwanu Haruna-Gona as Secretary, has been granted a four-week period to complete and submit its report. (NAN)
