Kebbi trains social media, information managers on effective policy communication

NO fewer than 200 Kebbi State social media operatives and information managers are undergoing capacity building and excellence management training for effective policy communication in the state.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the State Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed-BK, declared the two-day training workshop open in Sokoto on Wednesday.

The commissioner stressed the importance of skills and knowledge necessary to effectively disseminate information.

”The training aims at inculcating new knowledge of political communication, public relations strategy, crisis communication as well as ethics, laws and fake news on the the participants,” he said.

Ahmed-BK noted that the gathering was a testament to the government’s commitment to capacity building and excellence in information management.

”The visionary leadership of Gov. Nasir Idris, has witnessed significant transformation in various sectors.

”His passion for education and development is evident in the numerous projects and initiatives launched in the past one year.

”This training programme is designed to equip you with the skills and knowledge necessary to effectively disseminate information and manage the narrative of Kebbi state’s progress in the digital age.

”We recognise the importance of leveraging on technology to reach a wider audience and showcase the achievements of our great state,” he said.

The commissioner urged the participants to actively participate, engage, and learn from what he described as an intensive programme.

Earlier, the Chairman, Board of Directors of Prime Image Global Services, Alhaji Shu’aibu Mungadi, observed that the training would be memorable as it would be knowledge impacting with the eminent resources persons at the programme.

”I must also sincerely appreciate the foresight of Gov. Nasir Idris in choosing one of the most prestigious Media and Public relations consultants in the country, the Prime Image Global Services to handle this very important task of training the participants on using media for effective policy communication.

In his address, the Managing Director of prime image global services, Alhaji Dahiru Hassan-Kera, described the training as all important and timely.

”The governor has justified the fact that he is fully aware that media plays a vital role in dispensing good governance through open, accountable and transparent leadership,” he said.

This, he said, would go a long way in unveiling an uncommon opportunity for the citizens to participate in governance and reap the expected dividends of democracy.

NAN reports that the workshop, with the theme,” Using Media For Effective Policy Communication”, was organized by the State Ministry of Information and Culture in collaboration with the office of the Special Adviser on New Media and Prime Image Global Services. (NAN)
