
Kebbi’s Gov. Bagudu visits Mahuta over Feb. 5 banditry

GOV. Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi paid a sympathy visit to Mahuta, headquarters of Fakai Local Government Area on Monday to commiserate with the people over the Feb. 5 bandits’ attack in the area.
The bandits killed five persons in the attack, drove away herds of cattle and looted shops from where they carted away goods worth millions of naira.
The governor’s media aide, Alhaji Abubakar Mu’azu-Dakingari, stated on Monday that Bagudu assured during the visit that government would continue to provide logistics, financial and material support for security agencies to forestall banditry.
He visited the Chief of Fakai, Alhaji Hudu Danmalam, where he acknowledged the gallantry of the army, the police, the civil defence, the vigilantes and volunteer groups for resisting the bandits’ onslaught.
He condoled with the people of Fakai, Mahuta, Garin Hausawa, Tungar Gambo, Isgel, Asarara, Masama and Taro, assuring that Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) would soon be returned to their homes.
The governor thanked the Chief of Fakai and his subjects for their assistance to IDPs and for being supportive of the government.
Chairman of Fakai Local Government Council, Alhaji Umaru Magaji and community leaders who spoke during the visit narrated the tragedy to the governor.
Magaji said the bandits looted more than 67 shops in Mahuta and Bajida, killed five persons and injured four others.
The governor also paid a condolence visit to a prominent politician, Alhaji Mamman Rago-Mahuta over the killing of his younger brother, Alhaji Danjuma DIG, a grains merchant on Mahuta-Bajida Road.
Bagudu prayed God to grant him mercy and prevalence of peace and security in Kebbi and in the nation. (NAN)
