ABIKE Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman/CEO Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, NIDCOM, has congratulated the duo of Israel Adesanya and Hakeem Dawodu for defeating their respective opponents in the boxing bouts on Saturday night in Abu Dhabi.

A statement by the commission’s Head of Media and Public Relations, Abdur-Rahman Balogun, stated that Dabiri-Erewa was excited by the success of the two great Nigerian boxers.

The NIDCOM boss said that the duo of Akinsanya and Dawodu had used their God given talents to put the name of Nigeria in the global arena, especially in the boxing world. “Congrats @ stylebender . You made it all look so so easy,” Abike Dabiri-Erewa said.

She encouraged them not to rest on their oars, but to keep soaring higher and higher in their chosen careers and continue to serve as mentors to those coming behind them.

The Nigerian-born Israel Adesanya defeated Paulo Costa via 2nd-Round TKO in UFC 253 Main Event to win the middleweight championship title.

Adesanya proved his dominance in the middleweight division with a second-round TKO wins over Paulo Costa in the main event of UFC 253 on Saturday.

Adesanya made light work of his opponent, dominating the fight from start to finish as he wrapped up business with a knockout of Costa in the second round via punches.

Dabiri-Erewa also congratulated Canadian-born Nigerian fighter Hakeem Dawodu, who had earlier defeated Russian Zubaira Tukhugov via split decision to stay unbeaten in nine professional MMA fights in the featherweight division.

“I also congratulate and celebrate Hakeem Dawodu. Another Nigerian, who won his fight this morning before Israel,” the NIDCOM boss added.
