Klitschko blasts IOC, says Bach serving Russian “colours and interests”

OLYMPIC boxing champion Wladimir Klitschko of Ukraine says International Olympic Committee (IOC) president Thomas Bach is serving Russian interests.
Klitschko said this in reaction to a proposal to re-admit athletes from Russia and Belarus to international sports competition.
In a tweet on Tuesday night, the former world heavyweight champion and 1996 gold medallist Klitschko named the IOC decision “a false flag.
“Thomas Bach serves the colours and interests of Russia.”
“This decision contaminates the Olympic spirit and is like this war: a nonsense,” he added.
The IOC had on Tuesday proposed to re-admit athletes from Russia and Belarus as neutral athletes under strict conditions.
Those athletes have been banned from most sports events since the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
The proposal excludes team sports and a decision on the participation of Russian and Belarusian athletes at next year’s Paris Olympics is yet to be made.(dpa/NAN)
