THE Kogi Government says it plans to generate electricity locally, to fast track the development of the state.

The state’s Commissioner for Information, Mr Kingsley Fanwo, said this when he briefed newsmen shortly after the State Executive Council meeting, Chaired by Gov. Usman dodo and Chairman of Council in Lokoja on Wednesday.

“This and other far reaching decisions were taken as measures to take the state to new heights

“These decisions become imperative because Kogi has all it takes to generate and distribute power for the wellbeing of our people and developmental purpose.

“Again, the executive council has given approvals for modalities to make the state play a big role in minerals exploration in line with the Federal Government policies on Solid Minerals mining and processing.

“Therefore, the approval is aimed at taking advantage of the many mineral deposits in the state including Lithium, Gold and others, ” he said.

Fanwo said that the council had also resolved to cut down the cost of governance in order to save resources for massive infrastructure development. (NAN)
