KTSG distributes N9.6m intervention materials to local communities

THE Katsina State Government has distributed building materials worth N9.6 million as intervention for community initiated projects in nine local government areas in the state.

Malam Nura Baure, the State Director of Community Development made the disclosure in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Daura on Friday.

Baure said the intervention was to enable the local community development associations complete the ongoing construction within the nine local government areas.

According to him, the construction include the building of mosques, Islamiyya schools and drainage initiated by the associations as parts of efforts to bring development to their communities.

He said each of the benefiting local government recieved 150 bags of cement, 20 pieces of 12mm iron rod and 150 bundles of roofing sheets.

Baure also said the government had already handed over the items to the local community development associations.

According to him, the benefiting local governments are Dutsinma, Sandamu, Mashi, Malumfashi, Funtua, Sabuwa,  Zango, Kurfi and Matazu.

He noted that the exercise would be continued and extended to the remaining 25 local government areas within the state.

He said the state government contributed 40 per cent of the items while the local councils and the local community development associations provided 20 per cent respectively.

According to him, the entire formula of contribution stands at 80 per cent.

Baure said the intervention was part of the efforts of the state Ministry of Sports and Youth Development to encourage local community development associations’ activities for accelerated development.

He called on the benefiting associations to make judicious use of the items, stressing that the state government would strictly monitor full implementation while failure would be sanctioned.
