THE All Progressives Congress (APC) Senatorial candidate for Kwara Central senatorial district and the Turaki of llorin emirate, Malam Saliu Mustapha, has expressed shock over the death of Justice Titi Daibu and Prof. Mustapha Akanbi.
According to a statement he personally signed, Mustapha commiserated with the entire judiciary sector and the harmonious people of Kwara over the painful losses as both deceased belong to the legal profession.
Justice Daibu was a Senior High Court Judge with the Kwara State Judiciary, while Akanbi, a Professor of Law and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) was the Vice Chancellor, Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete.
Daibu died on Nov. 21 during an illness at the age of 63, while Akanbi died on Nov. 20 at the age of 51 after a protracted illness.
“Hon. Justice Titi Daibu was a focused and incorruptible legal luminary who mentored several people in the judiciary, both in Kwara and nationally.
”She made long lasting contributions to the growth of the legal profession and stood as a bastion of justice for the many who sought the protection of the law under her watch.
”Certainly, her exit is a collosal loss, not only to her immediate family but to Ilorin Emirate, the legal profession and Kwara State as a whole,” he said.
”It is even more painful to learn that Justice Daibu was scheduled to assume office in February 2023, as the next Chief Justice of Kwara State, before this unfortunate turn of events.
”But as Muslims, we submit to the will of Allah (SWT) who alone determines the beginning and the end of all mortals,” Mustapha said.
He prayed God to accept the return of the late justice, forgive her trespasses, repose her soul and count her among the righteous in Aljannah.
In the same vein, Mustapha described the death of Akanbi as shocking and painful.
”This is not just because of its suddenness but also because Kwara has lost one of the builders and major contributor to the growth and development of the state educational sector.
”Nigeria has lost an erudite scholar of international standing and prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive the soul of the deceased and grant his family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
”I condole with Kwara Government, Mustapha Akanbi’s family, the people of Gambari community, Ilorin community,” Mustapha mouned. (NAN)
