PLAYERS and officials of Kwara United Football Club of Ilorin have gone on a one-week break ahead of the commencement of the General Elections on Saturday.

The club’s General Manager, Bashir Badawiy, who disclosed this on Thursday said they were expected to return on March 2.

”They are return on March 2 to begin preparations for their campaign in the second round of the 2022/2023 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL),” he said.

Badawiy who commended the players for their victory over hosts El-Kanemi Warriors FC in Maiduguri on Wednesday said the break would afford them the opportunity to perform their civic rights.

“It will also keep them refreshed ahead of the second round matches.”

Reflecting on the victory in Maiduguri, Badawiy said the team deserved commendation for coming from a goal down to win the match.

“The win is very important to our quest of achieving the set objectives this season.

“The one-week break will keep the players refreshed ahead of the preparations for the second round, which will obviously be tougher and demanding.

“I thank the players and the technical crew for their resilience, and I urge them to brace up for the challenges ahead,” Badawiy said.

Meanwhile, a former Kwara United FC Technical Adviser, Abdullahi Biffo, has boosted the club’s players with a gift of N200,000 for beating El-Kanemi Warriors.

They had won in Maiduguri in a 2022/2023 NPFL Match Day 9 fixture.
