THE Kwara Signage and Advertisement Agency (KWASAA) said its monitoring and enforcement team would soon begin operation to stop indiscriminate erection of billboards.

The Director General of the Agency, Mr Olorunshola Omotayo, stated this in a statement by the Press Secretary, Mallam Abubakar Owolabi, in Ilorin.

Omotayo said the public should cooperate with the agency in its bid to generate revenue for the development and growth of the state.

He also advised politicians in the state to approach the agency for professional advice on what should be done before erecting political billboards and others for the betterment of the state

”The agency is operating an open door policy for everybody, irrespective of party affiliation.

”This is to ensure that anyone can approach the agency for advice and clarifications for a better understanding on what signage and outdoor industry is all about in modern society.

”Signage and Advertisement industry is fast becoming a lucrative industry across the world and in some states, it has turned to be source of revenue and beautifying the state.

“The agency is established to regulate and control the erection and placement of bill boards and pasting of posters, including the branded vehicle among other outdoors in the state,” the director general said.

He, however, noted that though they were generating revenue for the government, they were also working towards the safety of lives and property of innocent citizens of Kwara through proper erection of signboards and outdoor structures.(NAN)
