Lagos Assures Residents of Flood Free State

THE Lagos State Government has assured residents of the present administration’s continuous commitment to rid Lagos of Flood.

Mr. Akeem Apatira, Chief Executive Officer of DRAIN DRUCKS, the Agency saddled with the responsibility of De-silting Drains in the State, disclosed this recently while briefing news correspondents on the activities of the Agency.

He stated that in view of recent directive from Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, the Agency has embarked on massive de-silting and clearing of drains and water channels across the metroplolis to ensure that Lagos is flood free as the rains commences.

He stated that de-silting of drains is an on-going process with massive clearing of drains in areas like Apapa-Wharf road, Liverpool, Point Road and its environs; Ikeja-Obafemi Awolowo Way by New Garage Bus Stop, Ikeja under Bridge, Allen – Opebi Road and its adjoining streets, Agege Motor Road, Oshodi Apapa Express Road, and Mile 12-CMS Road.

While soliciting for the cooperation and support of Lagosians for a flood free Lagos, Apatira promised a better service delivery and plan to extend the continuous desilting and clearing of drains and water channel to other parts of the State as the rain intensifies.
