Lagos CDC plans economic summit

THE Community Development Committee (CDC) Agbado Oke-Odo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in Lagos State has proposed an Economic Summit that will focus on the economic development of communities.

The CDC Chairman, Mr. Olabowale Kasumu, said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos on Monday.

Kasumu said that the summit would focus on grassroots development that would allow residents participation and contributions toward economic growth.

“After the summit, we are going to see new developments and new focus where everybody will be monitoring the developmental trends.

“The development will allow the residents to contribute their quota toward achieving the goals and objectives of the summit,” he said.

According to him, the summit will involve economic experts showcasing possible ways of advancing the community’s economy.

Kasumu said the summit would also enhance youth empowerment, skill acquisition that involved hundreds of youths in various communities within the LCDA.

“We are doing this purposely to ensure more collaboration between government and private business owners for more economic advancement to both the government and the residents.

“A lot of development programs will be focused on women entrepreneurship, youth vocation, skill acquisition, and other areas that promote economic growth in Agbado Oke-Odo LCDA,” he said.

He noted that Agbado Oke-Odo LCDA had many potential that could improve its economy in the area of commercial activities, modern market development, and trading.

“Both residents and the government will benefit from the summit and we expect the residents and the community leaders to cooperate with us for the success of the program,” Kasumu said.

NAN reports that the theme of the summit scheduled for May 19 is “Creating a Landscape of Economic Growth”. (NAN)
