Lagos council chairmen to residents: Observe COVID-19 preventive protocols

Owolabi Adele, the Executive Chairman of  Apapa Local Government Area ,  in a statement on Tuesday signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Emmanuel Dede,  appealed to residents of the council and its environs to comply to government’s directives.

“We owe ourselves the right to protect each other  just as it is a joint responsibility to ensure safety of lives.

“Wearing of nose/face masks, hand washing and sanitising will go a long way in curbing the spread,’’ he said.

According to him, there is also need to avoid large gatherings and observe  social distancing.

Also, Ganiyu Egunjobi,  executive chairman, Agege Local Government,  in a statement advised  residents  to  follow government’s directives on  avoiding large gathering of people.

“Social distance protocols must be adhered to and residents are advised to use their face mask whenever in public places,’’ Egunjobi said.

According to him, efforts have been put in place to sensitise market traders in Agege in different languages, as the case may be.

Johnson Babatunde, executive chairman of Orile Agege Local Council Development Area, LCDA, also advised residents to take responsibility of their health by complying with laid down procedures to curb the pandemic.

“COVID-19 pandemic has been in existence since 2020 and there are laid down protocols to prevent the spread.

“Residents are advised to maintain and adhere to the rules to avoid any casualty within the community.

“The council will continue to sensitise residents on the importance of using face masks at this critical period so as to curb the spread of the pandemic,’’ he said.

Mr  David Famuyiwa, the Executive Chairman of Agbado Oke-Odo LCDA ,  ordered the immediate contact tracing of associates as well as patients where members of staff of Meiran Health Centre tested positive to the dreaded virus.

“Contact tracing of associates as well as patients who visited the facility in the last few days has been embarked upon.

“We have ordered the immediate closure of the health centre.

“We also use this medium to admonish the community members to take responsibility for their health and life by avoiding social events that attract large gatherings.

“We need to adhere strictly to the laid down guidelines.

“Guidelines to use  face masks, regular hand washing and the use of sanitisers as well as maintaining adequate social distancing while in public places in order to flatten the curve of the pandemic,’’ Famuyiwa said.

The Agbado Oke-Odo LCDA in Lagos State  shut Bola Ahmed Tinubu (BAT) Health Centre, Aboru , to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the area.

The council  also ordered the closure of Meiran Primary Health Care as one of its staff  tested positive to the virus. – NAN
