MRS. Folasade Adefisayo, the Lagos State Commissioner for Education, says the State Government is committed to revitalizing the education sector and ensuring teachers are trained continuously for enhanced productivity, performance, and complete development of pupils.
Adefisayo stated this at a capacity-building program for teachers and school principals organized by the Lagos State Government in partnership with British Council.
A statement on Tuesday by Ganiu Lawal, Assistant Director, Public Affairs Unit,
Ministry of Education also commended the commitment of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s Administration in making teaching and learning fun for students and teachers in the State’s Public Schools.
“I commend the State Government’s commitment towards revitalizing the education sector and ensuring teachers are trained continuously for enhanced productivity, performance, and complete development of pupils.
“This initiative is a transformative plan of the government towards exposing the teachers to core skills and international best practices that will aid effective teaching processes.
“It will further create better strategies towards problem-solving and enabling the students to enjoy classroom activities.
“This program helps the teachers adopt means of actively engaging the students to creatively strategize and proffer solutions to their classroom-related duties, making learning very easy and fun for them” she is quoted as saying in the statement.
It noted that the training held at Colonades Hotel, Ikoyi, with about 40 participants drawn from schools across the state.
The participants are expected to assist in the comprehensive efforts for a more value-driven educational system in Lagos State.
The commissioner charged the participants to maximize the opportunities provided by the government and adhere to the various innovative strategies got from the training for delivery in their respective classrooms.
Also, Mr Jatau John, the Project Manager (Schools Education), British Council, expressed optimism that the teachers would effectively utilize the knowledge derived from the program in their respective classrooms.
John added that their commitment and zeal to learning new skills in line with the 21st Century were quite impressive.
“After this training, the teachers are expected to engage the learners to think critically and proffer solutions to global issues, making them have skills that are relevant to the needs of the society”.
John commended the various proactive measures and investment of the State Government to the educational system.
Also, Mr Ibitoye Ibikunle, a participant, commended the organizers of the program.
According to him, the program is of great importance as they have learned new methods of imparting knowledge to the students and engaging them actively in modern and digital skills.
Ibikunle said he had been motivated by the various sessions and was ready to utilize what he had learned from the training. (NAN)
