A GROUP under the aegis of Save Lagos Group, SLG, has strongly condemned Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State for the sacking of Femi Taiwo, an Anglican priest, for allegedly disrespecting of Bolanle, wife of the governor.
The SLG in a statement said the governor’s action showed that the family lacked decorum, humility and fear of God.
The group also described Ambode as accidental governor who lacked maturity to rule the state if not for his imposition by Bola Ahmed Tinubu, his godfather, during the last gubernatorial election in the state.
In a signed statement by Alimi Sulaiman Adeniyi, group’s convener, on the marking of democracy day in Nigeria which was made available to journalists on Monday, May 29, it urged Tinubu and other leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state to call Ambode to order on this singular action, describing governor’s action on the Anglican priest as ungodly, satanic, evil, illegal, unconstitutional, undemocratic, abominable, terrible, unacceptable and crime against humanity and God.
He then advised the state government to apologise to the chaplain, Anglican Church and the Christian Community in the state, advising the good people of the state to know the kind of person and character they would vote for as a leader in the coming governorship race in the State in 20019.
In the meantime, the Civil group has also queried the rationale behind the removal of status of the late Gani Fawehinmi, SAN, a legal Icon and social crusader, from Ojota area of Lagos State, urging Ambode to return the status of the late Fawehinmi back to the Ojota area within three months, or face the wrath of the society.
Speaking further on the democracy day celebration, Adeniyi maintained that the current political class had disappointed the masses without any meaningful different from dark days of military era, insisting that the current administration in Nigeria had failed woefully in all ramifications.
The rights activist told Nigerians not to expect any meaningful dividend of democracy from Muhammadu Buhari’s administration again as the remaining two years of the administration would be engulfed by politicking, urging the masses in the country to use their power in the democracy to vote out the administration in 2019.
