A Lagos State Hight Court has discharged and acquitted Frederick Nwajagu, from Ikoyi Prison after his incarceration since 2023.

A statement by President Emeritus of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Fabain  Onwughalu, who was among the team of lawyers in defence of Frederick Nwajagu, describing his discharge as a victory for the Igbo Nation.

According to the statement, Nwajagu was thrown into detention by the Lagos State Government on alleged terrorism, which the state government failed to prove.

However, he was convicted and sentenced to 12 months imprisonment for parading himself as a certified Chief in Lagos state as opposed to the Oba and the Laws of Lagos State.

The statement added that the court had to set aside his conviction for parading himself as a Chief in Lagos State as the prosecution failed to prove the offence to warrant the conviction and that the Ezeigbo institution is not recognised by the law of Lagos State and so has nothing to do with the Oba and the Chiefs Law of the state.
