Lagos Holds ICT Workshop for Public School Pupils

THE Lagos State Ministry of Science and Technology, in collaboration with Wifi Combat Academy, has organised a one-day training workshop on computer programming system, tagged “Hour of Code” for public school students.

Olufemi Odubiyi,  commissioner for science and technology, advised the students to make good use of the opportunity before them in transforming themselves into great programmers in future at the occasion.

The commissioner pledged his ministry’s commitment to the development of IT skills in the State, enjoining the students to develop self-confidence in practicing the coding system both at home and in school.

He stated further that, despite the present economic challenges, having computer skills would not only increase their knowledge but will create more opportunities for them in this digital age.

The one-day workshop, held at the State Government e-Learning Centre, Lagos- Island, had in attendance public school students drawn from State government primary and secondary Schools.

The Hour of Code is a global initiative designed for students to spend at least an hour of their time learning to programme in order to demystify coding system and show that anybody can learn the basics involved.
