Lagos Kicks Off “One Lagos” Tourism Brand Event

THE Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture has kicked off a three-day programme of activities to unveil the State’s new tourism brand tagged ‘One Lagos’ at the Lagos Bar Beach during the grand finale on Friday July 29.

Folorunso Folarin-Coker, commissioner for Tourism in the State, during an interactive session with newsmen disclosed that the rationale behind the event is to further bring the diverse multi-cultural heritage of Africa’s largest mega-city to the forefront and show case the vibrant energy of its people.

‘The ‘One Lagos’ brand will showcase the true spirit of Lagos through different creative expressions while leveraging on the City’s abundant soft power in an attempt to celebrate our people, places and the unique heritage of Lagos’ the Commissioner stated.

Folarin-Coker added that the ‘One Lagos’ brand was conceived to drive economic growth across all communities in Lagos by ensuring that government takes advantage of the robust  population of the State, its density, its wealth and its culture by focusing attention on community consumption to grow and deepen Lagos tourism assets.

He said government is exploring all the tourism potentials of the State to drive its economy, improve its hospitality, reinvigorate its entertainment scenes and gain a prime place in the comity of cities renowned for tourism monuments, sites and scenes.

The activities kicked off with the unveiling of the children play ground, bouncing castles and games among several other entertainment shows to the delight of school children who thronged the Bar Beach venue of the three-day entertainment-packed event.

The event also witnessed a musical performance by the popular hip-hop artist Alexander Abolore Adegbola Adigun popularly called 9ce amongst several other performances in comedy, dance etc.

The three-day event which will continue on a monthly basis until the celebration of Lagos State @ 50 and beyond will feature performances by top rated music artistes, comedy shows, cultural displays, dance competitions, Models on the Fashion Runaway and kids’ entertainment segments.

All residents are expected to attend the event which will commence from 6p.m and enjoy the true spirit of Lagos.
