Lagos Marathon: NSCDC in Plateau commends personnel for excellent performance

THE Plateau Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), has commended its personnel for their excellent performance at the just concluded Lagos Marathon.

Dr. Solomon Olasupo, NSCDC Commandant in the state, made the commendation when the athletes presented their medals to him on Wednesday in Jos.

Olasupo thanked the athletes for making the command, the corps and the country at large proud, by winning first, second and third positions in the Nigerian category of the marathon.

He assured them of the command’s support to the sports department, particularly in training and retraining of personnel.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the marathon which held on February 8, commenced from the National Stadium through Lekki to Eko Atlantic City and ended at Victoria Island, Lagos.

Emmanuel Gyang and Iliya Pam clinched the first and the third positions in the male 42km category while Deborah Pam and Hudung Gyang emerged first and third in the Lady 42km category.

Also, Vera Yohanna and Mariah Mandung won the first and second positions in the 10km female category, while Deborah Pam received a special award for closing the gap between Nigeria and the East Africans last year.

In the same vein, Emmanuel Gyang emerged as the first Nigerian male and Deborah Pam the first Nigerian female to reach the finishing line during the competition. (NAN)
