Lagos tanker explosion: Rights group commiserates with victims’ families

THE Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR) on Friday, expressed condolences to families of victims of Thursday petrol tanker explosion in Lagos.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that several persons reportedly lost their lives and property in the incident which occurred on Otedola Bridge at Ojodu Berger area of Lagos.

The Lagos State Chairman of CDHR, Mr Alex Omotehinse, commiserated with families of the victims in a statement issued in Lagos.

“The Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR), Lagos State Branch, commiserated with families of the victims who lost their lives and property in a fatal tanker explosion on Thursday.

“The unfortunate and regrettable incident, which occurred at about 5.00p.m, where about 54 vehicles burnt while some lives lost and many sustained injuries is a sad development.

“On behalf of CDHR, Lagos Branch, we extend our deepest commiseration to the families of persons who lost their lives as well as property to the unfortunate incident.

“We pray that almighty God will give their immediate families the fortitude to bear the pains and grief, our prayer also goes to those that sustained injuries for a quick recovery,” he said.

Omotehinse commended the state government for speedy response to the incident. (NAN)
