A member of the House of Representatives, representing Jemaa/Sanga Federal Constituency in Kaduna State, Mr Nicholas Garba, has distributed bundles of roofing sheets to victims of attack in the area.
Presenting the items in Kafanchan on Friday, Garba said the gesture was to cushion the effect of the attack, especially for the people whose houses were burnt down completely.
He said although the assistance will not arrest the challenge of re-roofing the burnt houses completely, it will help in no small way in resettling the victims.
In goodwill message, member representing Kachia/Kagarko, Jagaba Adams Jagaba, commended the high sense of responsibility demonstrated by his colleague, Sarkin-Noma, describing it as heartwarming.
Responding on behalf of other beneficiaries, Mr Bitrus Ayuba, thanked the National Assembly member for the gesture, saying it will go a long way in assisting especially those that cannot afford the cost of re-roofing the burnt houses.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that over 20 towns and villages benefited from the roofing sheets distribution, which the donor said were mobilised from his friends and colleagues, who assisted generously.
NAN also recalls that Southern Kaduna, particularly Jemaa and Sanga Local Government Areas, came under attack by suspected herdsmen two years ago, in which many lives and property were lost. (NAN)
