A member of Katsina State House of Assembly, Alhaji Nasir Yahaya has donated an 11KVA transformer to boost electricity supply to Kalgo village in Daura Local Government Area of the state.

The lawmaker, who represents Daura constituency, said on Wednesday in Daura that the gesture was to end the blackout in the area, which has no stable power supply for over five years.

Yahaya said that the cost and installation of the transformer was about N11 million, and expressed the hope that it will be protected by the community.

“The donation became necessary considering the inadequate and unstable power supply that affected so many small scale businesses in the area,” he added.

Alhaji Yunusa Kalgo, who spoke on behalf of the community, appreciated the lawmaker for the donation, and said it would help to enhance economic activities in the area.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Yahaya had also embarked on the repair of broken water pipes in Daura, to boost potable water supply to residents. (NAN)
