AN Ilorin based legal practitioner, Mr Ahmed Jimoh, has advised journalists to focus more on positive reporting of Nigeria.

Jimoh, who gave the advice on Sunday in Ilorin in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), said journalists must project good image of the country at all time.

According to him, most media practitioners are fond of focusing on native reportage.

“Journalists should learn to report the positive happenings rather than focusing on negative ones in the country.

“Help us broadcast and report the positive stories. We have Nigerians winning international awards on daily basis. We have Nigerians excelling in their chosen careers.

“Instead of reporting kidnapping and bombing every time, kindly do professional report on the good news about Nigeria.

“Stop giving us bad name. Every country has their own ups and downs which they try to hide from the world,” he said.

The lawyer also advised newsmen to be the agents of good news and not destructive agents.

Besides, he urged journalists to assist in showcasing the rich Nigerian culture and talents to the world.

“Showcase our tourist centres to the world, show them Nigeria is blessed with good things,” he said. (NAN)
