LEBANESE Tourism Minister, Avedis Guidanian, on Tuesday said Lebanon’s tourism sector would witness increased success after the UAE lifted its travel warning against the country.
“We will see more tourists from the UAE in the coming period in addition to more Emirati investments which will translate into higher tourism spending, “Guidanian.
Guidanian made the statement at the UAE-Lebanon Investment Conference.
“I noticed a serious stance from UAE officials to deepen tourism ties with Lebanon ahead of the Christmas and New Year celebrations by the end of 2019.
Earlier, UAE state news agency WAM said that the UAE would lift a ban on its citizens travelling to Lebanon from Tuesday.
In November 2017, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Bahrain and Kuwait warned their citizens against travelling to Lebanon amid a Lebanese-Saudi crisis sparked by Lebanese Prime Minister, Saad Hariri’s controversial resignation announcement in Riyadh, which he rescinded later.
However, the UAE and Saudi Arabia had so far expressed concern over the political situation in Lebanon, which is located next to war-torn Syria.
Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia had earlier lifted travel warning ban against Lebanon, given improved security in the country.
