DR Michael Tidi, Chairman, Warri South Local Government Area of Delta, says the approval of the reconstruction of some failed major roads in Warri will restore its lost glory.
Tidi, in a statement issued on Thursday in Warri, thanked the state government for the approval, noting that the gesture would boost socio-economic activities in the metropolis.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Delta Executive Council presided over by Gov. Sheriff Oborevwori at the council’s inaugural meeting on Wednesday, approved the
reconstruction of the Upper/Lower Erejuwa Road.
Others are: rehabilitation of Esisi Road from the Warri/Sapele Road, to Estate Roundabout and Nana College, linking Ajamimogha Road.
The council chairman said that the state governor had started his campaign promises of restoring the lost glory of the oil-bearing city, and urged the people to support the government.
Tidi said that his administration had carried out several remedial works within the available limited resources through direct labour, to fix the Esisi Road and Estate Roundabout.
“The Upper/Lower Erejuwa Road, Esisi Road and Ajamimogha Road were constructed several decades ago by the late Samuel Ogbemudia administration of the defunct Bendel State.
“The roads connect major markets and other vital commercial investments in Warri, the economic nerve center of Delta,” he said.
He, however, urged residents to create the enabling environment to ensure actualisation of the project. (NAN)
