LG chair inaugurates multiple developmental projects in Ikorodu

THe Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government Area (LGA), Mr Wasiu Adesina, on Friday, inaugurated multi-million naira projects in all the wards in Ikorodu, as his administration winds down.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the projects included boreholes at Agura ward G, Gberigbe, Eleshin, Sholafun ward F, Itunliwe wards, Anibaba and Lowa ward B respectively.
Adesina also inaugurated a link road at Odugate and inspected the ongoing rehabilitation of Forcy Rabiu road at Lowa, which was at 85 per cent completion.
While inaugurating a borehole project in Lowa, the chairman explained that construction of the water facilities in all political wards of the LGA was to curb water scarcity in the communities.
Describing water as part of human life, Adesina said that the gesture was in response to the people’s yearnings and also to bring relief to the residents.
“As you know, our programmes are focused on the development of grassroots and provision of basic amenities to our communities,” he said.
The council boss charged the Community Development Associations (CDAs) of all benefiting communities to take ownership of the facilities and maintain them for the good of the people.
He reaffirmed his commitment towards the development of grassroots and ensuring that residents benefited from the dividend of democracy.
He called on the residents to pay all taxes due to the government to enable it deliver development projects to the people.
He disclosed the council’s plans to begin construction of Solamade road in Lowa ward.
“We have more than 5,000 houses in this community. If each house consistently pays N500 as levy, it will amount to more than our monthly subvention.
“We promised to do more before this administration winds down,” he said.
The chairman asked the CDA to nominate trusted member of the community to be integrated into the council’s Joint Task force to tackle issue of insecurity.
Earlier, Mr Olajide Kuti, Chairman Lowa CDA, thanked Adesina for taking steps to address the problem of water in the communities, pointing out that member of the community trekked long distance to get clean water.
Kuti also commended Lowa Councillor, Mrs Mutiat Fatuga, for facilitating the project.
He appealed to the council chairman to also address the challenge of insecurity, electricity transformer, access roads and streetlight. (NAN)
